Privacy Policy for slsh.ru
Last Updated: September 04, 2025
This Privacy Policy describes how slsh.ru (the "Service") collects, uses, and handles your information when you use our service.
1. Information We Collect
- Original URLs: When you shorten a link, we store the original URL you provide.
- Short Codes: We generate and store a unique short code associated with the original URL.
- IP Addresses: We collect the IP address of the user creating the shortened link. This is used for administrative purposes, analytics (like counting links per IP), and abuse prevention.
- Visit Data: When a shortened link is accessed, we may log the time of access and potentially the IP address of the visitor accessing the link to count visits and prevent abuse. (Note: The current code only increments a counter, but logging IP on redirect *could* be added).
- Cookies & Session Data: We may use session cookies for administrative login functionality. We do not use tracking cookies for general users.
- Analytics: We use Google Analytics to understand traffic patterns. Google Analytics may collect its own data according to Google's Privacy Policy.
2. How We Use Information
- To provide the core link shortening functionality.
- To redirect users from the short link to the original URL.
- To monitor usage, prevent abuse (e.g., spam, malicious links), and ensure the stability of the service.
- To generate aggregated, anonymized statistics about service usage (e.g., total links created, total visits).
- For administrative purposes, such as identifying links created by specific IP addresses in the admin dashboard.
3. Data Sharing
We do not sell, trade, or rent your personal information to third parties.
We may share information in the following limited circumstances:
- With law enforcement or legal authorities if required by law or to protect the rights, property, or safety of the Service, our users, or others.
- Aggregated or anonymized data may be used for statistical purposes.
- With third-party services integrated into our platform (like Google Analytics), subject to their own privacy policies.
4. Data Retention
We retain original URLs, short codes, creation IP addresses, and visit counts associated with active links. Links may be automatically marked as deleted after a certain period (as configured in `config.py`) or manually deleted by administrators. Permanently deleted data is removed from our primary database, although backups may exist for a limited time.
5. Security
We implement reasonable security measures to protect the information we store. However, no method of transmission over the Internet or electronic storage is 100% secure.
6. Your Rights
Depending on your jurisdiction, you may have rights regarding your personal data. As this is a simple service, direct data access/modification requests are generally not feasible through the user interface. Administrators have access to link data as described.
7. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of any changes by posting the new Privacy Policy on this page. You are advised to review this Privacy Policy periodically for any changes.
8. Contact Us
If you have any questions about this Privacy Policy, please find contact information through appropriate channels if provided elsewhere.
